Y Compania is an experimental space for the purpose of fostering creativity, cultural exchange, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Through residencies, exhibitions, and local partnerships, we strive to support local and international artists while becoming a resource for our immediate community.

Our residency program is designed to support artists, independent curators, small galleries, and artist-ran spaces without limiting them, thus there are no requirements for production or participation in programming.

There is no fixed exhibition or residency or programming schedule. The ubiquitous standard for exhibition calendars is a construct from which we have chosen to deviate.

The residency program aims to be responsive to the needs of our residents and to the state of our local community. By eliminating predetermined outcomes we are able to develop relationships with artists and collaborators that can evolve over time.

ABOUT OUR RESIDENCY

Located in the vibrant East Side of Austin, this artists residency offers housing and studio space for a creative and immersive experience, facilitating a period of concentrated artistic creation, interaction, and growth. Set in Austin’s thriving urban setting, the residency's location serves as a vital aspect of the program.

Established and governed by artists, the program fosters an environment where participants can work free from the constraints of the marketplace and academia, focusing solely on their artistic growth.

With its roots in the bustling East Side of Austin, the residency presents an ideal opportunity for artists to connect, collaborate, and create within a thriving artistic community, contributing to the rich cultural tapestry of the city.

This initiative has been brought to life through the collaborative efforts of local art collector Nolan Wheeler and art advisor Beth Fiore.
