MARFA

Two ways to travel stress free to Marfa from Austin

Two cheap and relaxing ways to get to Marfa.

1: Take a bus, this allows you to use the long drive to catch up on music, podcasts, books etc. Then when you are there camp instead of staying at a hotel.

Here is a bus route:

1.Take the bus from Austin Eastside Bus Plaza to San Antonio Bus Station.

2.Take the bus from San Antonio Bus Station to Ft Stockton.

3.Take the bus from Ft Stockton to Marfa, TX.

2: Another option, if you really don’t have time or will to drive, is chartering a private plane with a large group.

Sounds crazy but since there isn’t a commercial airport in Marfa this is an interesting workaround. Hear us out — If you can gather 15 to 30 people, the cost per person can be as low as $1500. BUT -…It's important to note that private plane travel may have a higher carbon footprint compared to other modes of transportation. We recommend offsetting the carbon emissions and not making a habit of traveling this way.

HOUSTON

Shaping the Contemporary Art Scene: Houston's Trailblazers

HOUSTON owes much of its vibrancy to artists like Paul Kremer, Mark Flood, Jeff Elrod, Will Boone, and Preston Douglas. Through their innovative practices, distinct perspectives, and unwavering artistic visions, they have become catalysts for artistic growth and conversation. Their contributions not only shape the contemporary art scene in Houston but also inspire and influence artists and art enthusiasts beyond the city's borders.

  1. Paul Kremer: Kremer's work often explores the interplay between geometric forms and organic shapes, creating visually stimulating experiences that evoke emotions and challenge traditional artistic boundaries.

  2. Mark Flood: Flood's artworks challenge societal norms and question the influence of consumer culture.

  3. Jeff Elrod: Elrod's artworks bridge the gap between digital technology and abstract painting. Utilizing computer software and digital tools, Elrod creates intricate compositions that explore the intersection of the virtual and physical realms.

  4. Will Boone: Boone's artistic practice revolves around themes of Texan identity, pop culture, and the exploration of psychological spaces.

  5. Preston Douglas: Douglas' multidisciplinary approach encompasses painting, sculpture, performance, and site-specific installations.
